Atlantia is built on a lot of the same elements most dystopian novels are built on, a separation societies and teens making choices that effect the rest of their lives. That being said it does differ by removing most of action that you see in current YA dystopian novels. Personally I like the story of this book however I hated the way it was told. The writing style was grating to me and I found the main character very unrelatable and often dull. While I appreciated that this was a stand alone book, I feel as though Condie touched on very interesting ideas but then didn't explore them, or explore them beyond the surface. Since I didn't enjoy the writing style in this I don't think I will pick up the Matched trilogy.
