City of Ashes - Cassandra Clare

I think the first (?) chapter of this was interesting then all the exciting stuff happens at the end. All the characters still pretty much suck and Clary is just getting tugged through her life. Does she ever get to be a real character that makes choices?

 

The whole I'm in love with my sibling thing but trying to remember that they are my sibling by stating it over and over is trying. The Simon and Clary relationship was a shit show. Why am I still reading these?
