Aristotle and Dante
I would recommend this book, I was just really on the fence about how to rate this book. It's beautifully written the story is wonderful, it deserves the awards that it's won. But, I just felt a little, meh about it. Here's the thing, I very much think that this book is going to be a lot of people's Perks of Being a Wallflower (or Catcher in the Rye, or other coming of age story), it reminded me a lot of it. It's like a not quite as depressing version Perks, Perks was my everything for a large chunk of my adolescences but looking back on it now, God that book is depressing.
Getting back on track. I loved the diversity in this book, I loved the setting and the characters. For me though I felt like I was past the life point where this book would have had the most impact, but I'm glad that I read it and I would still recommend it, but probably for people who are looking for a coming of age story, or something with Mexican American teens.
